WETEX 2022 – what was the business mission and trade show like?

This year’s edition of the fair dedicated to green technologies – WETEX Dubai Solar Show has come to an end. This year, as part of the event, MK Business Link as the official representative of the event, together with the National Chamber of Commerce and the Ministry of Climate and Environment, organized a business mission of 8 outstanding Polish green technology companies – winners of the “GreenEvo” competition.

The first day – September 26 – began with an official welcome to the mission participants by Mr. Jakub Slawek, Polish Ambassador to the UAE, representatives of the Ministry of Climate and Environment headed by Ms. Małgorzata Golińska and representatives of the National Chamber of Commerce. Companies from the GreenEvo program also had the opportunity to learn more about effective marketing and methods of promoting their business in Arab countries, which were discussed by our partner Nikos Migdalis from International Media Ideas.

Next on the agenda was a visit to Sustainable City in Dubai, Diamond Developers’ flagship project, which is the first fully functional city with zero demand for externally supplied energy. The city is an innovative sustainable building project that already has schools, stores and restaurants. Because cars are out of service in most of the area, residents get around by special electric carts. During the visit to Sustainable City, the mission’s participants, along with representatives of Diamond Developers, jointly discussed ways to promote sustainable development, raise environmental awareness and accelerate the fight against ongoing climate change.

At the end of the visit, Diamond Developers CEO Eng. Faris Saeed, thanked the guests with the words:

“Climate change is a brutal truth, and we are already experiencing its negative effects. Sustainable development should move to global prominence, and action toward it must accelerate significantly. Our discussion and the sharing of each other’s insights will further strengthen the collective commitment to this issue.”

The inspiring visit to the sustainable energy city was followed by a business event organized by MK Business Link – Cocktail Reception “Meet GreenEvo – the most prominent Polish green energy companies”. It was an opportunity for Polish companies to establish relationships and exchange experiences with Emirati entities and foreign partners and investors.

The next day – September 27 – the WETEX Dubai Solar Show for green technologies officially began. The opening ceremony was led by His Highness Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum – CEO of Emirates, and the ceremonial march was also attended by: Minister, Malgorzata Golinska and Mr. Polish Ambassador to the UAE, Jakub Slawek. After the opening of the event, representatives of Polish companies went to the main stage, where during a seminar on GreenEvo, each delegate had the opportunity to present their technological solutions in front of an international audience. The rest of the day was devoted to valuable B2B meetings and networking in the Polish Pavilion and throughout the fairgrounds.

September 28 and 29 were marked by fruitful talks and business meetings. Participants of the Polish Pavilion established relations with, among others, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and the Dubai Municipality. What’s more, an honor for the founder of Prote – Technologies for the Environment – Jerzy Slusarczyk was the opportunity to give an individual presentation on one of the stages about the solutions used in their plant.
On the last day, the entire delegation was invited, by the organizer of the fair – Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), to a gala, which was an opportunity to meet the royal family, sponsors and people responsible for organizing the event.

In the early morning of September 30, the mission participants returned to Poland. It was an extremely fruitful time for MK Business Link , the Ministry of Climate and Environment, the National Chamber of Commerce and Polish companies.
